Announcements and Events
All graduating students should plan to fill out the FAFSA or the CADAA. The 2025-2026 FAFSA and CADAA forms will open on December 1, 2024.These forms are essential to receiving financial aid to help pay for college
We are hosting a Financial Aid Workshop on December 11th from 6- 7:30pm in the cafeteria. This workshop is open to all students regardless of the form you plan to fill out.
Students should only complete one application, either the FAFSA or CADAA. Students should complete a FAFSA if they are U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents (green card holders), or have Refugee status, have been granted Asylum, or are T-Visa holders. Students should complete CADAA if they are undocumented regardless of DACA status, if they have Temporary Protected Status (TPS), or are U-Visa holders.
Please review this document to determine if you need to fill out the FAFSA or the CADAA.
If you are using the FAFSA form, please use this link to create your studentaid.gov account. Both parents and students will need to create an ID account. This should be completed at least three days prior to filling out the form. If you are using the CADAA form, you do not need to create a studentaid.gov account.
All attendees should bring a charged chromebook, studentaid.gov account logins, and parent'stax information from 2023.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
You may have a $500 scholarship in your account right now. See Ms. Miller for more information

Admission Requirements
Certificate Programs
Students interested in obtaining career training without committing to several years of school can earn a Certificate of Achievement in a shorter period of time. Certificate programs are designed for students interested in career training that leads to a specialized career field. Students who earn certificates can often earn more money than someone who simply holds a high school diploma. Programs vary in length and generally require less than 2 years of full-time study to complete. There is no limit to the number of certificates a student can earn.
Associates in Arts (AA) and Associate in Science (AS) Degrees
Associate in Arts for Transfer (AA-T)/Associate in Science (AS-T) for Transfer Degrees
These are specific Associates Degrees for transfer to the California State University system. These degrees are designed to provide a clear pathway to a CSU major and bachelor degree. Community College students awarded an AA-T or AS-T degree are guaranteed admission with junior standing within the CSU system and given priority admission consideration by their local CSU campus. This priority does not guarantee admissions to specific majors or campuses. More information can be obtained at the community college.
Transfer Information
Use http://assist.org to help you select the proper courses at the community college that will meet the specific GED requirements for your major at the CSU or UC to which you plan to transfer. Assist is an online transfer information system that shows how credits earned at one California public college can be applied when transferred to another.

CAREER ASSESSMENTS & COLLEGE SEARCHES
The decision to pick the right career path and/or college may seem daunting! Fortunately, there are various resources available to you (for free!) that will help guide your decisions.
Self-assessments are important because they use your unique skills, interests, and personality traits to choose career paths as good matches for you. Starting these assessments in your Sophomore or Junior year allows you plenty of time to research your results and make a decision about what you want to do after high school.
As if choosing your career path wasn’t hard enough, the decision to choose a college is also quite the task. The College Search Tools provided below should help with that! These tools allow you to input certain criteria (GPA, test scores, location desired, major, etc) and then see a personalized list of schools that suit your needs/wants.

What exactly is Financial Aid?
Financial Aid is the money you and your family can get for educational expenses. It’s designed to supplement the amount you and your family contribute. There are four basic types of financial aid: Grants, Scholarships, Work Study and Loans.
-
Grants – awarded based on need; you do not have to repay a grant.
-
Scholarships – awarded on special ability, academic achievement, religious affiliation, ethnic background, special interest, or random drawing; you do not have to repay a scholarship.
-
Work Study – a federal program offering part-time jobs both on and off campus. You don’t repay work study funds because you’re trading work for financial aid.
-
Education Loans – funds borrowed from a financial institution or the federal government. You must repay education loans, usually with interest.
Cal Grants
Two things are required for students to be considered for a Cal Grant: 1) Student submits his/her FAFSA and 2) Student submits GPA to California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). Roseville Joint Union High School District electronically submits GPAs for ALL Seniors. Therefore, once a student submits his/her FAFSA, they will be automatically considered for a Cal Grant. Please do not try to submit GPA Verification Forms.
Once your FAFSA is complete, wait a couple of weeks, and then go to www.webgrants4students.org to check the status of a potential Cal Grant award.
Getting Started:
-
File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) in October or November of the Senior year. This establishes eligibility for grants and loans from the federal and state government such as Cal-Grants. Eligibility for this money is based primarily on parents’ income and assets in the year prior to the student’s freshman year in college.
-
You have nothing to lose by filing the FAFSA – it’s free. Even if your family has middle to high income, don’t rule yourself out. Factors other than income are weighed when calculating need. For instance, an applicant may have siblings who are also in college, parents who are older, or the family may have had a recent financial setback. Also, most colleges use FAFSA information to award their financial aid.
-
The FAFSA is completed using parent tax information from TWO years prior. Therefore, if you are starting college Fall 2021, you will use tax information from 2019. The FAFSA should be filed in OCTOBER or NOVEMBER of your Senior year in order to be considered for Cal Grant as soon as possible.
-
Complete the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov
-
This is the official FAFSA website. Do not go to a .com website. If you go to a .com site, you may be asked to pay to submit the FAFSA. Remember, the first F in "FAFSA" stands for "free" – Use the official government site to submit your application.
-
-
-
The due date for the FAFSA, if you want to be eligible for Cal Grant, is March 2nd each year. RJUHSD electronically files GPA verifications for ALL current Seniors and last year's Seniors.
FSA ID
The FSA ID gives you access to the Federal Student Aid online systems and serves as your legal signature. Parents and students each create FSA IDs. Only create an FSA ID using your own personal information and for your own exclusive use. You are not authorized to create an FSA ID on behalf of someone else, including a family member.
Your FAFSA and Cal Grant will need to be renewed every year. Save your FSA ID!
What information will you need to correctly fill out the FAFSA?
-
Your Social Security card and driver's license
-
W-2 Forms or other records of income earned
-
Your Federal Income Tax Return
-
Your parents' Federal Income Tax Return, if you are a dependent student
-
Records of other untaxed income received such as welfare benefits, Social Security benefits, TANF or ADC, veteran's benefits, or military or clergy allowances
-
Current bank statements and records of stocks, bonds, and other investments
-
Business or farm records, if applicable
-
Your permanent resident card (if you are not a U.S. citizen)
