RJUHSD Athletic Handbook
Welcome to the Roseville Joint Union High School District's (RJUHSD) athletic community. In order to ensure an
enriching and rewarding interscholastic athletic experience, we provide this Student Athletic Handbook to inform
our student athletes and their parents/legal guardians of the rules and policies pertaining to participation in our
athletics programs. All student athletes and their parents/legal guardians must read and certify through the athletic
clearance process ONLY after reading this Handbook in its entirety and agreeing to its rules and policies.
Eligibility
Eligibility Explained
To encourage and promote academic excellence, all students participating in extracurricular activities shall demonstrate satisfactory minimum progress in meeting the requirements of graduation by undertaking prescribed course of study and meeting the standards of proficiency established by the district.
Requirements:
Academic eligibility has two requirements. To be eligible a student athlete must:
- Have a 2.0 GPA or better
- Be passing at least 3 classes
*Students who are only taking 3 classes, must pass all three
*Weighted grades are not used to calculate eligibility per the CIF Bylaws.
*Incomplete and No Mark grades are calculated as an F
*A grade of Credit or Passing is calculated as a C.
Academic Probation:
A student may be granted up to two grading periods of probation during the student’s high school enrollment in our District, beginning with the first school (9th grade) grading period. The periods of probation cannot be used consecutively. The probation may be granted only if the student has met one of the two academic eligibility requirements. If the student is below both standards, the student will not be granted probation. A probation period is the same length and duration as a grading period. A transfer student who is ineligible from the student's previous school will not be eligible for probation upon the initial enrollment.
The purpose of this period is to allow the student an opportunity to remediate his/her academic problems. School personnel will support the student in his/her efforts to improve.
An academic probation period is not automatically granted. A student must meet with their Coach, Counselor, Athletic Director or Administrator over Athletics, AND complete a probationary period application prior to being granted eligibility.
Grading Periods:
A grading period will constitute an eligibility period. The grade issued at the end of each progress report and quarterly grading period will be used to determine eligibility.
RJUHSD schools declare at the beginning of the school year the grading periods and eligibility declaration days that each school will use. Eligibility will be declared after each school-wide grading period.
